Willie Mayvald grew up in a family dedicated to hotel business. But as sometimes happens, young people clearly understood that his path has nothing to do with the family business, and after school he went to Paris, where he had a distinguished career as a photographer feshen.

Mayvald Willy (Willy Maywald) was born in Germany, there attended art school. In 1931 he moved to Paris, where he became actively withdraw life on the streets, in cafes, to become acquainted with the creative elite of the city, he began to take off in their home interiors, organized a workshop in Montparnasse, and indeed clearly missed. While it can be seen in virtually every part of the capital of France.

In 1942 Mayvaldu offered a job as a photographer in Switzerland, where he had gone for four years, and then returned again to Paris, this time with the intention to shoot people. Instead of working in the usual photo shop Mayvald decided to conquer the world of fashion and celebrities. Surprisingly, he was almost immediately out of luck. Whether the right people spotted his talent, whether old acquaintances played a role. Anyway, Mayvald made a quick career. He worked on the house Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain, Jacques Fath and Jeanne Paquin.

While the imagery for fashion houses took place exclusively in the studio. Mayvald was the first who brought the models in their incredibly expensive exquisite dresses on city streets. It was so unusual and innovative at the time that the house "Dior" has decided to take his Mayvalda leading photographer. His photographs got on the cover of famous magazines (Vogue, Vanity Fair and others), but most of his work Mayvald still devoted to cooperation with "Dior".
