Modern Albania as it is
• Modern Albania as it is
Photos of normal Albanian life. I wanted to capture the mood of our time and the reality of everyday life. These pictures are devoted, on the one hand, people, and on the other - the outside - Urban Habitat. It shows the interaction between people and their environment at work, at rest and in familiar, everyday affairs. We see aesthetic imposition of the socialist past in the new trends of Western influence, characterized by an explosion, bright colors and spontaneous introduction of new technologies. "

What is happening in Albania? In the past - the closed communist country with so long to hide from the rest of the world coasts and amazing Alpine hinterland, today is still a mysterious place in the midst of all the familiar old Europe.

Albania - a neighbor of Italy and Greece, but in spite of the fall of the Iron Curtain 20 years ago, it is quite a long time harbored secrets.

Jan Mikhalko - one of six photographers from Berlin, who for three years regularly examined a little-known part of Europe.

They plunged into its unique and complex society, on which so influenced by the long period of Ottoman rule, dictatorial grip of Communism and the present merge joy modern Europe.

The project idea was to create a visual diary of the country that everyone knows by name, but whose way of life, people and dreams are just starting to emerge.

Each of the photographers followed his own unique approach to tell the story of the discovery.

This long-term project never would have made such a direct and documented, if his object would not be such an intriguing country like Albania.

In this collection offers you the pictures of one of the photographers who participated in the project - Jan Mikhalko.
