BMW will release a wireless charging station for cars
The BMW Group intends to release a wireless charging station for one of their cars. And it's not about the wireless dock for smartphones. Wireless charging technology is introduced to the market and there is not one year, but for vehicles such function is a novelty.
The charging station will target hybrid model 530e iPerformance and is connected to a wall outlet of 220 V. After that the sensors installed on the car show the driver where to put the car to its battery could interact with the station, as shown in the video below.
According to BMW, the battery charger 9, 4 kWh Model 530E occurs in about 3 hours at 5 Power 3, 2kW, which is close to the level of the battery via a cable. As the representative of BMW North America Division reporters portal The Verge, the technology is still being tested and is now on an assessment of the relevant authorities in the United States and Canada. As for the other countries, there BMW is planning to release this wireless charging station at the beginning of next year, but again only for model 530e iPerformance. Other iPerformance series models, including 330e, 740e, X5, as well as the all-electric i3 and i8 will support this technology later.
Despite the fact that more precise information about the launch of the charging station, as well as on its future price yet, BMW may be the first car manufacturer to offer this technology.
